Practical Learning

Chemistry Laboratories - Learning By Chasing Curiosity

Chemistry is a fascinating subject that helps us understand what the world around us is made of and how we fit into it.

At our school Manava Bharati India International School, learning chemistry is riveting through practical understanding. The focus is to explore scientific exploration while learning how to responsibly and vigilantly handle equipment and chemicals. There is attention given to learning the importance of carrying out one’s own experiments with care as to make the subject interesting without any unnecessary risks.

The Chemistry Laboratory provides a platform for students to take the subject from words on a page to an active part of their life. It nurtures scientific vigor and produces a generation of individuals well equipped for further research and development within the subject.

Fully Equipped Laboratory Our school’s chemistry lab has state-of-the-art apparatus:

  • Glassware used for measurement – Volumetric flask, Graduated cylinder, Pipet, buret.
  • Equipment often used in titration- Ring stand, buret clamp, Utility clamp
  • Miscellaneous- Funnel, Watch glass, Crucible Tongs, Glass stir bar, Magnetic stir bar
  • Durable and high quality Borosil glass beakers
  • Wickless alcohol lamps with stand
  • Test tubes and stands
  • Thermometer
  • Tubing Pinch Clamps
  • PH papers
  • Rubber stoppers
  • Distillation equipment and many other equipment
  • Well-maintained, good quality and safely stored stock of chemicals for conductingexperiments.
  • Fire Fighting Equipment
  • Well-stocked First Aid kit

The Importance of Safety

The teachers and staff are well trained in all necessary safety procedures in case of an emergency in the laboratory. They are equipped with the knowledge in how to maintain a safe environment to eradicate any chances of mishaps by acting quickly and effectively.

Health and safety are a core part of the learning process and students are taught to protect themselves and their peers while they participate in conducting experiments. All equipment and chemicals in the labs undergo strict and periodic inspections to maintain the quality of materials and to avoid degradation.

Physics Lab

The Physics lab aims to provide a vast understanding of our surroundings that goes beyond theoretical education one comes across in textbooks. It uses a scientific and empirical method to unravel the justifications behind nature and its functioning. The Physics lab at school is functional and equipped with all essential tools and gadgets for the student’s development.

The area is well maintained and spacious, adorned by charts and posters made by the students themselves. It is a space for children to spend their time enjoying while they perform experiments that explain the fundamental concepts behind how the world works.

Biology Lab

Manava Bharati India International school vaunts are intricately designed Biology lab that actually plan to show the excellent merge of science and technology. Apparatus ranges from simple plane and permanent slides, Petri dish, microscopes to observe samples of plants and animals closely with varying power.

Besides the afore said the laboratory also has specimens, models and charts made by students under the guidance of teachers. The exhaust system of lab sustains a comfortable environment in the room while using and handling various chemicals.

There is a very colourful and panoramic view of models of human anatomy, insect cycle, cell division and many other topics made by students only. There is a plethora of specimens in jars used as models for teaching. Biology lab is very spacious and well designed with faculty and store room.

Computer Lab

In the evolving age of Science and Technology it is important that students stay afloat of current trends and are aware about software developments. The computer labs in school provide space for students to participate in modern methods of data evolution.

Over the various systems in the computer lab, students are taught the basics of computer language and the applications of web technology and software.

The modules available are aligned with the syllabus prescribed by CBSE and initiate students into understanding the ever growing digital world.

Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Laboratory

Mathematics is not important to us because it is some untouchable, larger-than-life concept but because it pervades every single aspect of our life. By understanding the simple basics, one can build upon their knowledge consistently and achieve a great comprehension within our world and the universe.

The Math Lab aims to create a space where students learn at their own pace without fear and pressure to make the learning process enjoyable and full of wonder. The curriculum designed by the CBSE incorporates these values and helps give students the tools to further develop their skills in regards to mathematics.

The mathematics laboratory can create a positive attitude towards learning which goes beyond the rote methods that have become so common in our society. By fostering the interest of a student, learning becomes second nature where children understand concepts effortlessly and remember them more efficiently.

The Math Lab is also a space for remedial intervention for those students who are struggling to keep up with their peers and for reinforcing concepts already introduced to them. This concept works on a learning-by-doing methodology which is more effective in terms of natural understanding of the individual. It is a space for teachers and students to cohabit and learn from one another by performing mathematical calculations and solving problems faced in their day to day lives.

ATL means Atal Tinkering Lab- It is the flagship initiative of Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), Government of India. The main idea behind setting up of this lab is to encourage the young minds to combine creativity, innovation skills and logic.

We aim to enable to the students to work with tools and equipment to understand the concepts of STEM.
