Spic Macay organised ‘Odissi Dance’ event in collaboration with Manava Bharati India International School, Dehradun.

Spic Macay which is a non- profit , voluntary organisation dedicated to promote Indian Culture in educational institutions throughout India organised ‘Odissi Dance’ event in collaboration with Manava Bharati India International School, Dehradun. The event was on 9th March at 9.30 a.m. in the school premises. The event began with Lamp lighting ceremony by Madhavi Mudgal-famous Odissi dancer , Dr. HimanshuS hekhar, Director MBIIS, Dr. Geeta Shukla , Principal of MBIIS. For this event, Madhavi Mudgal ji, performed Odissi dance with her musical team. Her team members were Shri Jitendraji , Pakhawaz player, Shri Prashant Kumar, vocalist, Shri Mohammad, Sitarist and Miss Dipika Bisht, co- dancer. She is one of the leading Odissi dancers and has been awarded many awards including’ Padma Shri’, ‘Sangeet Natak Academi Award ‘and ‘Sanskriti Award’.

The school management made proper arrangements for the smooth conduct of this event. Dr. Himanshu Shekhar, Director of MBIIS and Dr. Geeta Shukla , Principal of MBIIS welcomed the guests with token of appreciation and assured the participation in such eventsin future to bring awareness among students about our country’s cultural heritage. All the staff members and students were mesmerised by Madhavi Ji’s beautiful dance performance. There was a questionnaire session for the students to ask about dance and its various forms. Dr. Anantmani spoke a few words of appreciation. Dr. Geeta Shukla , Principal, delivered ‘Vote of Thanks’ and Ms .Jasleen Kaur anchored the programme. Refreshment was also arranged for the guests after the event. Everyone admired this cultural event and appreciated the initiative taken by Spic Macay and Manava Bharati India International School.
